Have Your Say On Wyndham’s Liveability

Wyndham residents are being invited to have their say on the municipality’s liveability as part of a new campaign by Councils representing Melbourne’s outer suburbs.

Interface Councils, which includes Wyndham City, has launched The Liveability Project, a campaign that calls on all sides of Victorian politics to do their part to ensure our fastest growing suburbs are livable for everyone.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Peter Maynard, said a key part of the campaign was to find out what residents thought of how liveable their neighbourhoods are.

“Wyndham City and the other Interface Councils believe that the 1.6 million people we represent should have access to adequate public transport, local jobs, education, health and community services, community facilities and uncongested roads,” Cr Maynard said.

“Recent analysis conducted by Interface Councils has identified concerning statistics that demonstrate the impact of inadequate access to crucial components of liveability. This includes a significant disparity in the access that residents living in Melbourne’s outer suburbs have to jobs, services, education and other opportunities, compared to the rest of Melbourne.”

“For a city that prides itself on being recognised as the most liveable in the world, this inequality must change. That’s why we and our fellow Interface Councils are embarking on The Liveability Project.”

“We want to hear from residents about what they think would make their communities more liveable. By providing your input, we can work towards making Wyndham an even better place to live, work, learn and play.”

Interface Councils is a group of 10 municipalities that form a ring around metropolitan Melbourne, including Wyndham City Council, Cardinia Shire Council, City of Casey, Hume City Council, Melton City Council, Mitchell Shire Council, Mornington Peninsula Shire Council, Nillumbik Shire Council, City of Whittlesea, and Yarra Ranges Council.
